Welcome to the first installment of SSiTT or Some Shit i Threw Together.
I try to make somewhat healthy and organic meals that don’t get too terribly boring or mundane. I know a million (give or take a couple) people have food blogs. What makes this one so different? I don’t measure anything! Following recipes is for conformists, and housewives, of which I am neither. What I can tell you is that this will be sporadic at best and sometimes it may not look that good or you’ll think, “GROSS how could anyone think that this would taste good??” but guess what, it’s deeeeeee-lish! Live on the edge, don’t be afraid to try different things and have a good time while being creative.
One rare, lazy morning that Nate and I were able to sleep in, I decided to finally get out of bed and make some blueberry waffles. We had just bought a flat of blueberries from Costco the day before and already they were turning bad (something we have to deal with up here in Alaska, fruit is a rare treat).
If I was to list here HOW I made the waffles, I would be going against my basic principle of cooking, DON’T CONFORM TO THE RECIPE! Live outside the Betty Crocker box!
The ingredients I used were:
Blueberry Puree, Whole Wheat Flour, Free Range Eggs, Coriander, Ground Flaxseed, Cinnamon and Nutmeg.
It was a bit of an experiment to make sure the waffles were done but when the steam stopped rising from the iron and the outside was crispy, they were done. Heavy and full of fiber and goodness!
When the meal was ready we accompanied SpongeBob at the table and ate the waffle topped with Strawberries and Pure maple Syrup, along side a sausage and Organic Fair Trade Coffee.
